How would you explain, in five minutes or less, the faith foundations of our call to act to care for our common home?
As one of the periti, or theological advisors, to the Fifth Plenary Council of the Catholic Church in Australia, I addressed the Council’s Second Assembly. My topic was ‘integral ecology and conversion for the sake of our common home’. The task was to provide the theological background to the motions that were to be considered by the Members of the Council. And I had a maximum of five minutes!
This is not a polished video, or my most engaging presentation. I was all set to present in person but had to make a quick recording at the last minute. I had tested positive for COVID! Such are the times in which we live.
Happily all motions on this topic passed with amendments that improved the original text.
Dr Sandie Cornish
Thanks Sandie for this inspirational and challenging introduction to integral ecology from a faith perspective. I hope it is shared widely and will include it in my soicial media conversations with fellow pilgrims in our common home.
