Philippine Bishops Easter Pastoral on Health

"The healthiest person on earth is the saint. Through self-denial and asceticism, mortification and prayer, the saint is one who seeks God in all their endeavours. Our health, after all, should be at the service of our primary vocation - to seek the Kingdom of God." Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, Easter Pastoral Instruction on Stewardship of health, 2014The Catholic Bishops of the Philippines have chosen Easter – the time at which Jesus’ body was resurrected – to encourage appropriate stewardship of health. They draw on the cardinal virtues to call for moderation, appropriate exercise and rest, the rejection of harmful substances and activities and unhealthy perspectives on the human body. The roles of the family, schools, and Catholic hospitals and community based health care are stressed.
