"We all have a role to play in this ecological revolution to which Pope Francis has invited us." Bishop Philip Banchong Chaiyara of Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand, August 2015.

“Our poor did not even know the words, global warming, but they have been the victims of climate change for the last 10 years,” Cardinal Bo, Chairman, FABC Office for Human Development, 18 August 2015.

Welcoming the publication of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si on the care of our common home, the Federation of Asian Bishops Conferences (FABC) announced a series of regional seminars for South, South East, East and Central Asia. According to the Climate Change Desk of the FABC, the seminars will “raise awareness of both the scientific and moral reasons for protecting God’s Creation as outlined in the Encyclical and promote the establishment of Climate Change Desks in each Episcopal Conference which can serve as a structure for the study of the Encyclical and create concrete plans of action for each country in the FABC territory.”

Speaking at the opening of the East Asian seminar, Bishop Philip Banchong Chaiyara of Ubon Ratchathani, president of Caritas Thailand, said “We all have a role to play in this ecological revolution to which Pope Francis has invited us.”
